1. 의용소방대원이 되는 방법beaufort시 소방서에서는 의용소방대원이 되고자 하는 지역민을 모집하고 있습니다.
모집인원은 제한이 없습니다. 의용소방대원은 우리 인력의 중요 자원이며 직업소방관과 같은 레벨의 훈련을 받게 됩니다.
2. 의용소방대원 자격요건○ 18세이상 고등학교 졸업자 또는 고등학교 검정고시 졸업자(ged)
○ 운전면허 소지자
○ 자가용 소유자
○ 유죄로 판명된 범죄를 저지른 자 지원불가
○ 면허정지, 음주운전 경력자 지원불가(경미한 교통법규 위반은 무관)
3. 지원서 작성○ 의용소방대원 지원서는 구직시 작성하는 이력서 양식과 유사하며 개인신상정보, 참고사항, 운전면허정보, 고용경력, 의료정보, 범죄기록에 관한 내용임
○ 해당사항 없는 질문에는 '해당 없음'(n/a : not applicable)이라고 기재
○ 불충분한 지원서 작성시 지원불가
○ 정보가 불충분할 경우 집에서 작성 후 제출 가능
4. 의용소방대원으로 인정되면일단 의용소방대원이 되면 훈련을 시작한다.
훈련은 매주 화요일 오후 7시에 시작되며 한달에 한번 토요일(개인별 원하는 주 선택가능)에 훈련을 갖는다. 훈련장소와 시간이 명시된 훈련일정표 배부하게 된다.
5. 최소 요구사항당신과 우리, 그리고 신속하고 전문적인 서비스를 제공받게 되는 시민들의 안전을 확보하기 위해 최소한 한달에 2회의 훈련에 참가해야 하며 12시간의 근무(6시간씩 2회 혹은 12기간 1회)를 하여야 한다.
6. 기타 정보먼저 언급했듯이 당신은 직업소방관과 똑같은 훈련을 받을 기회를 갖게 된다.
우리서에는 주에서 인정한 소방학교 교관(state certified south carolina fire academy instructor)이 배치되어 있으며 당신의 훈련을 책임지게 된다. 훈련은 소방학교에서 제공되는 과정과 같으며 단지 장소만 틀릴 뿐이다.
훈련과정에 등록되면 일반적으로 다음과 같은 일정으로 훈련이 이루어진다.
- 화요일, 목요일 : 7:00pm~10:00pm
- 토요일 : 9:00am~4:00pm
우리는 당신과 함께할 것이며 당신에게 필요한 최고의 훈련을 제공할 것이다.
각 훈련별로 길이가 다르게 때문에 일정이 매우 다양하며 강의 스케줄을 각 과정이 시작할 때 개인별로 배부될 것이다.
훈련 및 근무에 임할 시 모든 지원자는 면도를 해야한다. 콧수염은 허락되나 기타 다른 사항은 불가.

how to become a volunteer firefighter
the city of beaufort fire rescue actively seeks members of our community to become volunteer firefighters. we have no limits as to the number of volunteer firefighters we can carry on our roster. volunteer firefighters are a vital asset to our force and are trained to the same level as our career firefighters.
volunteer firefighter qualifications
candidates for membership must be 18 years of age, a high school graduate or ged equivalent. volunteers must also have a valid drivers license. minor traffic violations are acceptable, but there can be no history of suspension or dui. we also require our volunteer firefighters to have reliable transportation of their own. any criminal history that is showing a conviction is grounds for disapproval.
applications are available at the central headquarters station at 135 ribaut road, across from the multi-government center. parking is available either on the side, or in the back of the station. enter through any door and ask for an application from one of our firefighters.
filling out your application
the volunteer firefighter application is similar to the one you may fill out for a job. it requires information about your personal history, character reference, drivers license information, employment history, medical information, and criminal history. fill in each blank. if the information asked does not pertain to you, simply answer n/a. incomplete applications may be subject to disapproval. if you do not have all the information available, you may take the application home with you, and return it when you have it completed.
once you have been accepted
once you have been accepted as a member of our volunteer firefighters, you will begin your training. on tuesday nights, beginning at 7:00 pm, volunteer firefighter training is held at one of our stations. we also hold training one saturday a month as well for your convenience. you will receive a monthly training calendar specifying where and when training will be held.
minimum requirements
for our safety as well as your, and to ensure our citizens receive prompt, professional and proficient servce, the following minimum standards have been outlined:
attend a minimum of 2 drills per month
perform a minimum of 12 hours of station time (either two 6 hours or one 12 hour)
miscellaneous information
as stated previously, you will have the opportunity to receive the same training as the career firefighters. we have state certified south carolina fire academy instructors in-house who will deliver your training. these are the same training courses that are offered at the fire academy, but are taught here in beaufort.
when enrolled in one of these courses, training is generally conducted on the following days and times: tuesdays and thursday nights from 7:00 pm until 10:00 pm saturdays from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. we will work with you and your schedule as best we can to get you the training you need! times may vary, depending upon the length of that particular training session. a class schedule is given to each student at the beginning of each course, and it contains all pertinent course information.
in order to participate in firefighter training, and firefighting duties, all applicants must be clean shaven. mustaches are approved, but other facial hair is not allowed. this is by the order of the occupational safety and health administration, and the south carolina fire academy. this rule pertains to the use of self contained breathing apparatus. it has been proven that an effective face-piece seal cannot be made with any facial hair that protrudes into the face-piece seal area. this rule is for your safety and no exceptions are made.
