폭설이 발생한 경우 행동요령에 대해 알아봅시다.

 

How to behave in the event of heavy snow.

1 RRemove snow in front of your house and from sidewalks as often as possible.

2 Prepare winter car emergency kits such as snow chains, calcium chloride, shovels, etc.

3 Check emergency kit and replenish any items missing or in short supply, especially medications and medical supplies. Keep it nearby.

4 Use public transportation rather than private cars.

5 Drive a car at a low speed and keep a safety distance.

6 For frozen pipes, turn off water that flows through pipes to the outside of your home then drain the outside spigot of any remaining water.

*spigot: 수도꼭지, 옥외에 있는 수도

7 Be careful while removing icicles and use protective headgear or goggles when removing the snow.

*icicle: 고드름

8 Don’t use open flame or electric heating devices (hair dryers, heat guns, etc.) to remove snow or ice.

9 Keep dry. Wet clothing loses much of its insulating value and transmits heat rapidly away from the body.

*insulating value: R-value: 단열 성능

10 Call 119 when your car is isolated; check weather conditions on TV, radio, and the Internet in the car while waiting for rescue. Stay in the vehicle and wait for help. Do not leave the vehicle to search for assistance unless help is visible within 90 meters.

*help: 지원, 도움

11 Avoid overexertion, such as shoveling heavy snow, pushing a vehicle, or walking in deep snow.

*overexertion: 과로, 격심한 운동
